Sharon Harrigan’s work has appeared in the New York Times (Modern Love), Virginia Quarterly Review, Narrative, and elsewhere. She received the Joyce Horton Johnson Award from Key West Literary Seminar and the Kinder Award from Pleiades, as well as fellowships from the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and Hambidge. She teaches memoir writing at WriterHouse, a literary center in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Rosalie Moffett is the author of June in Eden, winner of the 2016 Ohio State Press/The Journal award in poetry. A former Wallace Stegner fellow and the winner of a 2012 “Discovery” / Boston Review poetry prize, her work has appeared in The Believer, Ploughshares, Kenyon Review, Tin House, and elsewhere. She lives in Athens, Georgia.

Andy Gonzales has been a fixture of the Athens music scene for twenty years, most notably as the front man for Marshmallow Coast. He has also performed with The Music Tapes and Of Montreal. Marshmallow Coast’s most recent album, Vangelis Rides Again, is a “thoughtfully moving album that nods nicely to its namesake” (Flagpole Magazine).

New Town Revue Double Fiction Extravaganza recap

Every New Town Revue astounds us, and February 8th’s was no exception. We had quite a crowd this time for our double fiction extravaganza.

June 15, 2013 New Town Revue

The June Revue had a killer crew- Lily Brown and Fabrice Julien reading poetry as well as Amanda Kapousouz of Tin Cup Prophette performing. Thanks again to Bart Lemahieu for recording, to Avid Bookshop and Janet Geddis for hosting, for Rachel Watkins for all her publicity assistance, and to all of you who attended. Next Revue: February 8, 2013

The New Town Revue is thrilled to announce our next reading on Friday, February 8, at 6:30 at Avid Bookshop in Athens, GA.

Caroline Young will be reading poetry, Johnny Damm will share his fiction, and Fabulous Bird’s Peter Alvanos will be playing some songs.

Caroline Young writes poems, makes paintings, and cooks a lot of tofu.  She’s a PhD candidate at UGA and spends the rest of her time with trees. Her writing is out there somewhere.

Johnny Damm’s work has appeared in a variety of publications, including Word RiotAsian Cinema, and the anthology Don’t Abuse the Muse, and is forthcoming this spring in Timber and The Newer York. He has taught creative writing at Tulane University and Stetson University and been awarded residencies at the Atlantic Center for the Arts and the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center. He is currently an editor of A Bad Penny Review and Opo Books.

Fabulous Bird frontman Peter Alvanos has played with a variety of bands including Jim White, Casper & the Cookies, The Empties, The Sunshine Fix, The Mod Fathers, Thayer Sarrano, and Nikki Sudden.  He’s currently drumming for Elf Power, who are recording a new album.
